Food

I made this page to capture all the delightful faces Joseph makes when trying a new food. In the beginning we started with baby led weaning. He picked up on gumming and swallowing first and became very fussy when he couldn't feed himself fast enough, so we started using a spoon and normally let him hold one too so he still feels like a part of the process.

** Notice something missing from the pictures? My husband and I decided to forgo grains until Joseph is at least a year as babies are not able to properly digest them. Want to learn more?  This article is a wonderful resource on what foods are best for babies and why.

First try at avocado. He didn't eat any, just licked it a bit and mushed it in his hands.

Bananas, he enjoyed these much more than the avocado!

Beets were not enjoyed, but he looked so cute eating them.

He enjoyed sucking on the apple slice so much that we decided it was time to try apple sauce.

The  apple sauce was a hit. He ate half the container!

Joseph was in for a treat today. We gave him blue berries for the first time. Once he got used to them he loved them. We did find them a little runny so for dinner I mixed them with apples to thicken them up. They were delicious.

This is Joseph eating egg yolks mixed with peas and carrots. He loved them, much more than any other food we have tried. We chose to start egg yolks so early because of reasons we found here.

Joseph got his first taste of cantaloupe yesterday. He is really enjoying the sugary fruits. Also I find it humorous that the last two pictures were taken in the same restaurant with him wearing the same shirt.
